Inside every lozenge
Ten things.
One lozenge.
Eight minutes.
Most of what smokers are sold is built to hide the smell from other people. AFTERMINT is built for how you feel in the minute after — so every ingredient is here for a reason you can feel, and every dose is one we can defend.
How to read this page
When you feel the cool reach the back of your throat.
How long one lozenge keeps everything below in contact with your mouth and throat.
Total actives per lozenge. Every one of them listed, with its amount, below.
01 — The cool
Menthol
The first thing you notice. Menthol switches on the cold receptors in the mouth and throat within seconds — the same sensation as a deep breath of winter air, without the air.
After a cigarette, the throat feels warm, dry and rough. Menthol is why that changes in about fifteen seconds, and why the lozenge feels like it's doing something long before the rest of the formula has finished its work.
75 mg at the 15-a-day maximum — the same dose range as a standard throat lozenge, and a fraction of the WHO's acceptable daily intake.
02 — The airway actives
NAC · Ivy leaf · Thyme
Three ingredients with decades of European pharmacy history behind them. This is the part of the formula that makes AFTERMINT an airway support lozenge and not a mint.
A form of the amino acid cysteine. Your body uses it to make glutathione — its own antioxidant — and it has been sold in European pharmacies for over fifty years to support the airways' natural clearing.* At 15 a day you take 750 mg, inside the range studied in adults.
Hedera helix. Recognised by the European Medicines Agency under "well-established use" for supporting comfortable breathing — one of the few botanicals with that status.* Standardised extract, 120 mg at the daily maximum.
Thymus vulgaris. Approved by Germany's Commission E, the world's most rigorous herbal monograph system, for respiratory support.* Traditionally paired with ivy leaf — the two appear together in European pharmacy syrups for a reason.
03 — The coating
Marshmallow root · Licorice root · Mullein leaf
Slow-dissolve only works if what's dissolving does something while it's there. These three are demulcents — botanicals that form a soft, soothing layer over the throat as the lozenge melts.*
Althaea officinalis. Rich in mucilage — the plant's own gel — that coats and comforts a dry, rough throat.* The reason eight minutes of contact feels like eight minutes, not a flavour that's gone in thirty seconds.
Glycyrrhiza glabra. A demulcent and the traditional partner to marshmallow in throat preparations, with a natural sweetness that lets us skip artificial sweeteners in the coat.* Contains licorice: if you have high blood pressure, ask your physician.
Verbascum thapsus. A traditional soothing herb for the throat and airways, used across Europe and North America for centuries.* Gentle, well tolerated, and part of why the lozenge feels calm rather than sharp.
04 — Putting back what smoking takes
Vitamin C · Zinc · Green tea
Smoking uses things up. The US National Institutes of Health sets smokers' vitamin C requirement 35 mg a day above everyone else's. One lozenge puts 40 mg back.*
The antioxidant the body burns through fastest under smoke exposure. 44% of your daily value in one lozenge; the extra 35 mg smokers need, covered before you've finished the first one.*
A trace mineral with a long history in lozenge form. Supports normal immune function and the health of the tissues lining the mouth and throat.* Deliberately low-dose — 15 mg at the daily maximum, well inside safe limits.
Camellia sinensis, standardised for catechins — the polyphenol antioxidants green tea is known for.* Supports the body's antioxidant defences alongside vitamin C. A small, deliberate dose: 150 mg a day at the maximum.

What's not in it
No nicotine. No lecture.
No nicotine
This isn't a replacement for anything. It's for the minute after the thing you already chose.
No eucalyptus, no peppermint oil
Earlier versions had both. We took them out. The cool now comes from menthol alone — cleaner, and it doesn't fight the botanicals.
No disease claims
Every line on this page describes what an ingredient supports. Nothing here treats, cures or prevents anything, and we won't pretend otherwise.
