Why After

Why AFTERMINT exists

Everything made for smokers
is made to stop them.

Patches. Gum. Apps. Hypnotists. Every product in the aisle assumes you're on your way out. We made the one product for people who aren't — and who'd still like to feel better in the minute after.

The problem nobody was solving

Mints are for other people.

Think about what a smoker actually carries: mints, gum, mouthwash in the car, a jacket kept by the door. All of it exists so that other people won't notice. None of it does a single thing for how the smoker feels.

The warm, dry, rough throat. The heavy feeling for the first minute back inside. The throat-clearing in the meeting. Forty million American adults know that minute intimately, and the only advice they've ever been given about it is "quit."

What we decided

We sell the minute after. Not the organ.

There's a whole industry selling "lung detox" to smokers — teas, drops, supplements with pictures of lungs on the front. We're not in it. We don't make promises about your lungs and we don't show pictures of them.

We make a slow-dissolve lozenge for a specific sixty seconds, with ten ingredients that have real standing behind them, in a tin you'd be happy to put on the table. That's the entire ambition.

What we believe

Four things we won't do.

01

Tell you to quit. You've heard it. You know. We're not here for that conversation.

02

Make it look like medicine. No blister packs, no pharmacy white. A tin, brushed metal, a slide lid.

03

Claim what we can't prove. Every ingredient page line says what an ingredient supports. Nothing more.

04

Charge you less for smoking more. Light, Moderate and Heavy cost the same per tin. The version is who you are, not a bulk deal.

A note on the name

We used to be called something else.

The first version of this lozenge sold under a different name. Customers liked it — you'll find their reviews on the product page, honestly labelled. When we reformulated, dropped the eucalyptus and peppermint oil, and rebuilt the tin, we gave it the name it should have had from the start. After. Mint. Say it fast.
